Our search option offers a variety of ways you can narrow your search for different people in the system. The general process for using our search engine is to select a Filter then an Operator. Then, you can enter in a keyword, a letter, or there will be another drop-down menu for you to select from. See the end of the article for a list of operators and a description of what they do, as well as a table of filters showing what operators you can pair with them to help you with your searching. Below, you will find examples of the different searching options available.
First or Last Name Starting with Letter…
First, select the filter “First Name” then choose “Starts with” from your list of options
Next, select the letter the first name starts with, for example, “B” and a list will populate with the people who have a first name starting with that letter.
You can then select “Last Name”, then choose “Starts with” from the dropdown menu following the same steps
Once you select a letter that the last name starts with, for example “P”, then a list will populate now with people whose first name and last name start with the letters you selected.
ALL or ANY
When you apply two or more filters, you will notice the ALL and ANY options in the search bar.
If you choose ALL, you will only see results for people that meet the criteria of every filter you have applied. For example, if you apply Homeroom/Group is Middle School Science and Type is Student and select ALL, you will only see results for students whose homeroom is Middle School Science.
On the other hand, if you choose ANY, you will see results for people that meet the criteria for at least one of the filters applied. For example, if you apply Homeroom/Group is Middle School Science and Type is Student and select ANY, you will see results for every person who is a student, regardless of the homeroom and for every person whose homeroom is Middle School Science including teachers, parents, and students.
Homeroom/Group Is…
First, select the filter “Homeroom/Group” then choose “Is” from your list of options
Then, select the Homeroom/Group you would like from the dropdown menu that populates, for example “4th Grade”.
From there, you can enter a “Keyword” such as a name that will further narrow down your search. For example, entering a name like “Aaron” will then bring your search to only people named Aaron in that specific Homeroom/Group you chose. You can continue to enter keywords in as needed.
