A Step-by-Step Guide to Point Your Domain to Beehively
Log in to Your Domain Registrar’s Account:
Access the account where the domain name was purchased (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains).
Locate DNS Settings:
Find the "DNS" or "Manage DNS" section where DNS records can be updated.
Update the A Record (IPv4 Address):
Find the existing A record that directs the root domain to the server’s IP address.
Name/Host: @ (or blank, depending on the registrar)
Type: A
Value: [Please contact to our support team: Support@beehively.com]
TTL: Default value (typically 1 hour or less)
Update or Add a CNAME Record for the www Subdomain:
To make the website accessible via www.example.com, update or add a CNAME record for the "www" subdomain.
Name/Host: www
Type: CNAME
Value: example.com (this points www to the root domain)
TTL: Default setting
Update Any Other Subdomain Records (Optional):
If any additional subdomains (e.g., blog.example.com) are used, add or update corresponding DNS records (A or CNAME) to point to Beehively IP address or the correct destination.
Save Changes:
Ensure that you have made DNS changes. It may take several minutes to hours for the changes to propagate across DNS servers worldwide.
Verify DNS Propagation:
After entering your custom domain, you will notice a notification message (as shown in the first screenshot). Once we detect that your website is pointing to Beehively's IP address, another message will appear (as shown in the second screenshot), confirming that your website is live on your domain.
Important Notes:
Propagation Time: DNS changes may take up to 24-48 hours to propagate fully, but typically it happens within a few hours.
TTL (Time to Live): The TTL setting determines how long DNS records are cached. Lower TTL values allow for quicker propagation but increase DNS query frequency.
